1. The memory of her has brought me grief,
And so tears fall from my eyes like a stream.

2. Such is love - it brings its companion
Sorrow and melancholy it would seem.

3. The best one to hope for, the most generous,
Is a king whom all Arabs obey.

One whose father was the Prophet's uncle.
