1. Praise be to God, Lord of insightful minds
They have all begun talking nonsense

2. By the Lord of the Two Holy Mosques and everything between them
By the Lord of Mina, the whirling dancers

3. By the Lord of the House with curtains and pilgrims
Circling as-Safa and as-Marwah and rushing pilgrims

4. Indeed, He for whom the world and everything in it was created
Is far above any attributes

5. So let the wise man look after himself
For everything to come is surely coming

6. Live happily as long as you live
For the long life is so near death

7. Turn away from the house of deceit
And its patrons, and expect misfortunes

8. Where are the kings with pulpits, armies,
And lofty palaces?

9. And the entertainers - who needs them now?
The horses swift as the wind - where are they heading?

10. They lie between layers of dust - call them!
O people of the empty, deserted ruins

11. Is there anyone among you who can tell us
Where the spirits of the wasted bones have settled?

12. Soon after you, few shall return
And few shall shed tears

13. Time spares none in its afflictions
Not even mountains firm and towering

14. Whoever fears God will be a mercy
To all believers, men and women

15. If you want lasting treasures
Strive to build up good deeds

16. Fear the Day of Resurrection as best you can
For it is the day when all secrets are tested
