1. When my affection for him is pure
His affection for me grows like the full moon
١. وَإِذا صَفى وُدّي لَهُ
زادَت مَوَدَّتَهُ كُدورَه
2. So it's as if loyalty has died
And cannot hope for its revival
٢. فَكَأَنَّما ماتَ الوَفا
ءُ فَلَيسَ مُرتَجِياً نُشورَه
3. The free man shows his enemy
Friendship in time of need
٣. وَالحُرُّ يُظهِرُ لِلعَدُو
وِ صَداقَةً عِندَ الضُرورَة
