1. Whoever claims that he can conceal his love
Or is able to hide it, he is a liar
١. مَن كانَ يَزعُمُ أَن سَيَكتُمُ حُبَّهُ
أَو يَستَطيعُ السَترُ فَهوَ كَذوبُ
2. Love overpowers men by its might
More than a secret in it has a share
٢. الحُبُّ أَغلَبُ لِلرِجالِ بِقَهرِهِ
مِن أَن يُرى لِلسِرِّ فيهِ نَصيبُ
3. And when the heart of the wise reveals itself
It only reveals when the man is defeated
٣. وَإِذا بَدا سِرُّ اللَبيبِ فَإِنَّهُ
لَم يَبدُ إِلّا وَالفَتى مَغلوبُ
4. Truly I envy one whose love is guarded
No eyes or hearts suspect him
٤. إِنّي لَأَحسُدُ ذا هَوىً مُستَحفِظاً
لَم تَتَّهِمهُ أَعيُنٌ وَقُلوبُ
