1. What fools these hopes that fill your mind,
And heed no lesson that they find!
١. ما بالُ نَفسِكَ بِالآمالِ مُنخَدِعَه
وَما لَها لا تُرى بِالوَعظِ مُنتَفِعَه
2. Have you not heard of one who gained
Salvation through a word he trained his ear to hear?
٢. أَما سَمِعتَ بِمَن أَضحى لَهُ سَبَبٌ
إِلى النَجاةِ بِحَرفٍ واحِدٍ سَمِعَه
