1. Behold! The best provision is lasting piety
While excess idle talk is surely evil folly

2. Regard what concerns you of all that you see
And stay silent except to say what is beautiful

3. Have you not seen that man dwells in a frail abode
While death towards another home is his path

4. What eloquence suffices however plenteous
If its little cannot avail you enough

5. The beds of those in graves are lonesome beds
Where the friend is parted from his friend

6. Take provision of piety from this life
For with it each is a guest, soon to depart

7. Make ready for death, do not hesitate
For when death comes, it grants no reprieve

8. The turns of fate are but a firm rope
Or a kingdom, which it will tear down and remove
