1. You thought well of the days when they went well,
And did not fear the evil that destiny might bring.
١. أَحسَنتَ ظَنَّكَ بِالأَيّامِ إِذ حَسُنَت
وَلَم تَخَف سوءَ ما يَأتي بِهِ القَدَرُ
2. The peace of the nights deceived you,
And in the serenity of the nights sorrow arises.
٢. وَسالَمَتكَ اللَيالي فَاِغتَرَرتَ بِها
وَعِندَ صَفوِ اللَيالي يَحدُثُ الكَدَرُ
