1. He who is not admonished by experience and literature
Will not be dissuaded by his grey hair or long life.

2. O you who are tried by your ambition!
Have you not seen how fate keeps changing?

3. What creature made by God would be amazed by one
Who is amazed though all creation is amazing?

4. With acceptance and surrender, anxiety is cut off,
While with unbelief, afflictions multiply.

5. When fate is well appraised, endeavor grows firm,
And play and diversion spring up.

6. With the beauty of contentment, livelihood is lowered,
While with greed, fatigue is magnified.

7. Surely wealth lies in the soul, and honor in
Fearing God, not silver or gold.

8. The events of fate go on, and nothing
Goes on except for a cause.
