1. May Allah accept your fasting, as you reach its end
With righteous deeds that match it and amend

2. A fast you took on, its obligations you tend
And the voluntary ones, on you great virtue they spend

3. If the most sublime of its fruits you didn't attend
Its best beginnings bountifully did descend

4. No visitors come to you except goodness they portend
And none left except goodness they send

5. A fast you smile as the dawn smile extended
At first light, after a woeful night it did end

6. And you bid it farewell, well-wishers their farewells send
As the Merciful did, when a fast He commend

7. When Eid al-Fitr did you shade and yearned
The ears of people for what you say and intend

8. You visited the masjid, and had you not sent
To its expanse the little donation you extend

9. And throbbed with yearning, that if able its wondrous ascent
Swayed its heights and shook its foundations to no end

10. Until the testimonies filled it, and listened hence
To the sermon from pulpits, knowledge did you hand

11. No remnant of your counsel in minds stayed or did impend
Except your intellect with wisdom did sharpen and amend

12. You made them know what ignorance made them misapprehend
Until the heedless of heart from their stupor did ascend

13. And you returned to the seat of might in courage spend
Like a torrent its steed and the night its pedestrian friend

14. Like clouds with the gleam of sharp swords that defend
Beneath the gloom, and the clang of shields that attend

15. Eyes of creation yearn to you and condescend
And success and pride the least of what you intend

16. And in the canopy, a face that never did impend
Smiles of acceptance, a face that front did befriend

17. And the flag of the King and Islam you lift and defend
Yours is the standard Gabriel did portend

18. You resembled the guidance of Allah's Messenger and Prophet
When excellent traits upon you did descend

19. And in your forehead, light from his prophecy
Witness of truth, no more evidence we need to defend

20. God has supported a faith you reinforce and befriend
The victorious ally sufficient and able to defend

21. Dispeller of harms however hard they impend
Reliever of sorrows however overwhelmed or tight they constrict and offend

22. When the guidance was empowered secured were its foundations to amend
Its arm outreached and shoulder full of might it did extend

23. Going forth with commands except what His ordain did transcend
Narrow its scope by what matches or contends

24. Honor through you a state that protecting did portend
For it you battle a disputant or argumentative pretend

25. And yesterday with the palms of your hands fend
A transgressor until by the light of truth he did impend

26. And whoever desires sedition or separation intend
Triumph denies him and triumph does refuse to befriend

27. A manifest conquest and help from the hand of a king
Garden of guidance withered but for who did it tend

28. O just ruler tell fortune not strange to offend
When injustice stands the just did impend

29. Your springs gushed bounty, previously dry they did pretend
So today Nile-like floods not but your rain did descend

30. You quenched a thirsty one with your downpour they commend
No clouds except what you graciously spend

31. And wonder not that inhabitants love-bound to you they pretend
Fitting for people what your fingers did befriend

32. Thank your munificence for what you comprehend
Of praise for generosity itself did impend

33. Bind me not to rhymes beyond my strength they extend
Words fall short of what you do and intend

34. I praise you O Prince of the Faithful true treasures transmit
That now or later pride in you they portend

35. Your records in every assembly transmit
Your eulogy which none can pretend

36. So submit to his rule that bounties transcend
What he wishes for and does intend
