1. With your blessings the necks became generously marked
And my poetry mastery needs no branding

2. You made me forget myself when I stood remembering
Myself, standing as I must for your obligation

3. You cancelled me out until I saw my admission
With the crowds entering as easy pickings

4. As if I never served you in situations
Where I speak plainly though men mumble

5. I never squeezed through this door in days when
Men didn't pester me and crowd me

6. I would be lying to myself if I stood thankful
And the tongue of my state wasn't translating

7. And they said “Be patient, don't break an etiquette
You're known for, patience and composure suit you more”

8. After serving, does a village learn, it's said,
Or like Ibn Shaawar, teach
