1. The new moons and full moons shone
Above palaces like arrows.

2. Tell me, what led you to your goal?
You left the camels like thrown spears.

3. Restore Egypt, in you I find revival,
And the Nile’s flood waters every thirst.

4. So be not like a gloomy retreat,
That leaves behind it clouds of sorrow.

5. Seeking favor or reward,
For poverty or for sins.

6. My supporter, guide, almighty,
Forgiving, bestowing great bounties.

7. So cast the rod of authority in the place
Whose nobility exceeds positions.

8. You see the brows and feet prostrating,
Preferring bowing down and standing in prayer.

9. Were it not for fortune of reward and pride,
The noses would not be led to the bridle.

10. And submit in prostration to the imam
Too sublime for greetings of peace.

11. And kiss the earth of his retreat, for from it
We knew the sanctity of the Sacred House.

12. If His Majesty allows, then vie,
If you can bear pressing crowds.

13. That you may see a face in the hand,
At which eyes are cured of sickness.

14. If you raise the veils of royalty,
You see the full moon amid the gathered clouds.

15. So delight in him, and do not reserve
For that any special month of fasting or feast.

16. Were it not for the text of his lineage,
The seasons would not exist for people.

17. It is foolishness to congratulate
While you are the sun, bright with robes.

18. The fasting month is but a crescent
Who visits you each year anew.

19. You made it excel Shawwal,
By prohibiting permitted food.

20. Truly between them is a gulf, distant,
That will never mend.

21. When it wanes, it reaches you in full,
While your face is ever the perfect full moon.

22. It returns from perfection to decrease,
While perfection accompanies you always.

23. If it faded we would know,
By seeing you, the lawful from the banned.

24. You transcended all congratulations,
Except days your protector brought about.

25. His life being the finest gifts,
If we examine closely what is said.

26. If I string your nights as a necklace,
It will have followed order.

27. And if your attributes ennoble him,
Then loyalty among the base.

28. He guarded the sanctity of the caliphate,
A pleasing act for him.

29. And surrounded its pillars from all fears.
What a guardian of the pillars!

30. And in aiding it, death
Approached with resolve and determination.

31. And he placed behind it strong loyalty,
Safe from separation and sundering.

32. You placed leadership in his hands,
So he managed the reins for you.

33. And you delegated affairs to the magnificent one,
Who reveals the veil of great sorrows.

34. He corrected the corruption of the days,
Until their spheres returned to smiling.

35. And he cured the sickness of the world
With resolve that saved it from incurable disease.

36. And supported his kingdom with the valiant father,
The height of care and concern.

37. So the face of your supporting kingdom shone,
Indicating the pillar of the imam.

38. The high were disabled for the one
Who ennobles the lofty ranks.

39. He built with al-Nasir the restorer a beacon,
Before which the very honorable are humbled.

40. And his father’s support was not for him
A stray arrow without a target.

41. But the view of an intricate expert,
Whose vision pierces the darkness.

42. He sees all matters with the insight
That shows every consequence from its beginning.

43. By his command destinies pass the night in us,
Apportioned between pardon and vengeance.

44. When forbearance lowers its capacity,
It moves between tranquility and clamor.

45. Through him the Bani Raziq live long,
Over the living in Yemen and Damascus.

46. Kings who knew the imagination of poetry
That lifts it above the vile riffraff.

47. My poetic inspiration falls short of them
And they overwhelm me and make my repository overflow.

48. I conceal my gratitude to them in shyness,
And the fragrance of musk spreads in the epilogue.

49. By their state, nights were beautiful for me,
As if people were in a dream.

50. Never did I attend their departure,
Nor arrive at their passing away.
