1. Bow in prostration, for this is the Keeper of the Cornerstone.
Inheritor of the knowledge of ants, bees, and rocks.

2. With whispers for voices and lowering for sights,
Witnessing the secrets of guidance, unaware.

3. How excellent the hand of caliphate whenever
It rises in the morn with a name from its lip, purifier of virtue.

4. Imam of guidance who cultivated every goal
To perfection, and how he cultivated our years beyond ten.

5. When we honor rhymes by mentioning him,
What jealousy the poetry has for him from poetry!

6. Had I been able to value his deeds as they deserve,
We would have praised him in prose and verse with the Qur’an.

7. But I say, my praise is thanks for the blessing
That has frequented with benevolence before my gratitude,

8. Virtues of Wadhah, he of radiant lineage, who has never ceased
To have on his face the light of eloquence and cheer.

9. Do you not see how beautiful the crown encircling
A visage more splendid than sun and moon?

10. The Commander of the Faithful exchanges seasons
That visit you, from noble fast to breakfast.

11. Sa’d follows them with your bounty, arriving
From year to year and month to month.

12. You marched to break the strait, and indeed
You marched to mend the subjects from rupture.

13. When I saw the land a sea of gazelles
I marveled at a sea marching to a river.

14. You went out at dawn to raid with growling lions
That block the wind’s blowing with brown lances,

15. Turning the darkness of pits to dawn, as though
Their tips imprinted from the chisels of dawn.

16. As if upon the desert plain a page from him
Written, its line added to line.

17. When his banners flutter and standards,
You see upon them the prime of might and victory.

18. Success has robed you in a garment
And embellished with benefaction, justice, and probity.

19. The world shone with your dawn that
Gladdens, from which the light of your actions whitens.

20. It lowered over the shoulders of the sublime,
Circling the tower of the falcon and eagle.

21. The Goat Star whispers to it secretly and covertly
The confidential that Allah has for you of mystery.

22. It is the palace, except that Haman did not lash
Its building, nor did Pharaoh commandeer it for disbelief,

23. And your sovereignty has served the earth and heaven,
So its lights flow and its rivers run.

24. You have risen above boasting with Egypt and its kingdom,
Which Pharaoh counted the epitome of boasting.

25. Heirs of the glory of the Keeper Ibn Muhammad
And keeper of the judgment of Allah in the decisive Scripture.

26. If Allah responds to the righteous prayer
Then may the Merciful allow you the treasured supporter!

27. For his days have veiled the flaw of our time.
The Merciful did not expose that from veil.

28. He assumed this command while the fateful age
Had no restraint, and custom’s manner inclined to denial.

29. He did not cease until the willful submitted
And yielded willingly through politics and force.

30. How many hands you have, O treasure of the imams,
With which you untied Islam from the shackles of captivity!

31. How many fiery Quraish battles you have, and how many towns,
With fire for the deceiver and fire for the respected!

32. You have ruled between the two flavors with justice yourself
According to the measure of the two, with sweet and bitter.

33. You have learned resolve from what you encountered
Of might and benefaction, ease and unease.

34. And a gift between the deserving and the eminent
You apportioned the eminent their due of praise and reward.

35. He who commits a sin, admitting it,
You unfold for him what was narrow of latitude for excuse.

36. He of lapse you forgave with insight,
Though you could have uncovered the embers from the ash.

37. What power you have, O people of your nobility,
Transcending through benevolence the nobility of rank!

38. Were you not rulers over the world,
You would be most deserving of prohibition and command.

39. How not, when the imam of your time has become
For you a unifier of guardianship and in-lawship?

40. So you remain for him, so long as my poetry remains,
For it will endure until the lifespan of time ends.
