1. Your virtues glorify praise,
And the light of your face illuminates monotheism.

2. Can guidance be wronged, while its protector
Is al-‘Adid bin Muhammad, supported?

3. The nights of fasting came to you as a dwelling,
Inhabited ever since by piety and generosity.

4. And after you provided them with devotion at night
And people supplicating, they departed.

5. Eid al-Fitr then happily met you,
With its joy making the Feast day delighted.

6. The days were ennobled when you ruled them,
For all times are your servants.

7. Shawwal is your servant - if you are pleased, and that
Is just a slip in writing ‘Eid’ instead of ‘servant’.

8. In everything supreme there is a sign from you
Revealing the mystery of the caliphate and renewing it.

9. So aid the Commander of the Faithful, who has never
Ceased to enlighten your understanding servants.

10. What is the secret behind the crooked staff?
It is the crooked top of the staff bending.

11. That is only because he looked at the people
And they bowed to your face in prostration.

12. So he inclined, but awe and shame
Prevented him from what he desired and intended.

13. Your umbrella envied the stars because it
Is a sphere over the sun of the morning outstretched.

14. And it spread in seeking dominance, its excuse being
Among wonders, that the envious dominate!

15. It was honored when its pinnacle became
Above the caliphate, firm and taut.

16. None gained the honor but a small dome
That stretched its gaze or neck toward you.

17. You glance toward them, and you see them
Like crops, some standing and some harvested.

18. They professed love of a caliph that nothing
In the matter is higher than but the Worshipped Lord.

19. When you emerged humbly on the morning of your Breaking Fast
With the glorification of God your motto and extolment,

20. Wearing the exemplary traits of the Prophet and al-Haydar
Evident signs for beholders and witnesses.

21. The gazes of the nations you ruled by pledge and covenant
Looked eagerly toward you.

22. Until you ascended the pulpit on your gray she-camel –
if that wood were solid gemstone, what a wondrous wood!

23. You gave glad tidings – or rather warnings – with the rule
In which is a true promise and threat.

24. A sermon softened stubborn hearts,
To which the witnessed assembly listened eagerly.

25. There is no wonder that limbs grow calm
Upon hearing it, or skins shudder.

26. And revelation speaks through your tongue with that
Without which adamant stones would crack.

27. The day the imamate displayed its glory
And the honorable angels were its armies.

28. Your caliphate secured the succession and concluded
With its guarantor treaties that settled it.

29. With the just al-Salih it was consolidated – so did
David commend it to Solomon?

30. An explicit text of the imamate has spared the need
For imitation, which to him is nullified.

31. There is nothing in binding and loosing in the world
Except what is referred back to his management.

32. A king who aided and protected Muslims -
His existence in the age is a unique existence.

33. He inherited the sponsorship from a father who in his time
Knew no separation between victory and support.

34. By the glory of courageous father! It is an oath
That cannot be denied by the staunch.

35. Indeed, Abu Shuja‘ bore alone burdens
That would have overwhelmed their bearers.

36. And he attained from the nobility of endeavors a limit
Beyond which seekers find no increase.

37. He caught hold of Islam when its edges
Swayed in fear, with no pillars or columns.

38.
And he calmed agitated hearts with resolve

39. That stilled restless, tossing seas.
And he humiliated the might of oath-breakers with an army -

40. Had it no congestion, the desert could not contain it.
Drums of war resounded within it, the war

41. Narrow for linked iron upon iron.
And I saw above the saddle there one greater than

42. He for whom the celestial spheres fluttered their banners.
And the sun had donned a veil of thick dark clouds,

43. Its daylight repelled by their night.
Had it not been for the glow of his forehead, none

44. Of their deep darkness’ tresses would have whitened.
I was awed by its awe, so I withheld

45. Rancors I had harbored and grudges.
Until the obstinate surrendered to grace

46. And the inveterate acknowledged the clear favor.
Might that humbles fortresses and an assault

47. That comes with no threats ahead of it.
Honor, O Banu Rasik! Your loftiness

48. Is always renewed over the course of time.
Days do not untie a knot of schemes

49. Except with confirmation of your affair.
The ministry befits none but you

50. As long as one of you exists.
You avoided excess, except in dew,

51. So your actions are beautifully praised.
The matter cannot be executed except when

52. Limits are kept with the utmost care.
And the people cannot have their affairs put right

53. Along with that, except with gentleness and propriety.
The Commander of the Faithful is felicitated for his rising

54. To avenge you and keep his promised loyalty.
He did not accept the matter you accepted

55. Of edges of the kingdom revolting and slaves.
So they tore apart the day of al-Salih the Guide, just as

56. Thamud were torn by the righteousness of the Prophet.
And they were ripped apart by the hand of the Imam, and so

57. One tasting misery, captive and exiled.
The caliphate observed the most wondrous right that never

58. Ceased to protect its glory and defend it.
The honorable angels bore witness that he

59. Responded to God's call and he is a martyr.
It rewarded him through his family and made them

60. A means by which it benefits and destroys the world.
And it tested them and found them to have no one

61. But a loyal advisor and loving friend.
And by your good opinion it made for them

62. An honor of self-respect and strong help.
So strengthen your care for them, for only

63. Does your allegiance in them thrive and grow.
And you remain for the Muslims, and your glory
