1. I bestowed upon you the seasons of days,
My ornaments of glory and robes of reverence.

2. The full moon is effaced at its perfection,
Yet we see you as the perfect full moon for all time.

3. The caliphate shone upon you from its throne,
The treasure of guidance and reserve of Islam.

4. The remainder of God that by its existence
Affairs flow in the most perfect order.

5. With the supported Al-Mahdi, may his mention be sanctified,
Our days became healthy after sickness.

6. By his alliance we delighted as if
We delighted in the two firm pillars.

7. Holding fast to the allegiance that guaranteed for us
The erasure of the pages of sins.

8. It revived hearts with its protection, and indeed
Caused souls to flow through bodies.

9. Descending from the lineage of the pure Haydar,
Verily the fresh pure water is from the rain clouds.

10. Eyes yearn to him, if they did not sleep
In his shade, they would not line with kohl.

11. I saw him, I know not if I saw him
In the position of a king or the abode of glory.

12. The majesty of his decree blinded our sights
And sought permission for the insights of minds.

13. O you who ask about the honorable stance
That did not lack honor or generosity.

14. What is above the face of the earth an elevation by which
The world rises other than this lofty position?

15. This is the son who uprooted the roads of Khaybar
For God, and the son who broke the idols.

16. This is the son of the daughter of Mustafa and the sons
Of the youth are more deserving than the companions and uncles.

17. He whom the ground envied as the brows
Envy the feet’s landing place.

18. Vie to obtain a glance from him
To gain the richest portion.

19. And make your greeting by prostration, for it
Elevates worth beyond greetings of peace.

20. And prevent your tongue from congratulating his glory
With a crescent of Eid or a fasting crescent.

21. And reflect, congratulate his days through his grace
For through him we knew the sanctity of days.

22. I swear by the martyred King, the vanguards,
And he suffices as an oath among oaths.

23. If it were not for Ramadan, the noble month
That is ennobled with special honors.

24. I would omit it from the calendar and strip it
Of the mention of virtue among the months of the year.

25. And I would brand it with my blame and make it
A target for every criticism and fault.

26. And I would say that fasting in it is not obligatory
Nor is breaking fast forbidden in it.

27. Verily its crescent's rise saddens me
And the vanguards held for echo and awe.

28. And I love Sha’ban because I see not
From it to Shawwal other than darkness.

29. Nay, your death quenched my thirst like the purest drink
From a martyred one, an aromatic and delicious sea.

30. And of wonders is that I asked you after
Your nectar quenched my joints and bones.

31. The year you revived by the deed of Ibn Muljim
O son of Al-Qawam with fasters standing firm.

32. So Abu Shuja' executed upon you as
The best caliph and imam did for your brother.

33. You tasted death as you made equitable rulings
If not for justice in judgments.

34. Indeed, you ended the most wondrous life
Engrossed in spreading knowledge and flags.

35. They extinguished God's light but He
Extinguished them with its piercing flames.

36. You thought the absent lion is not
The clawer of the ribs of lion cubs and lionesses.

37. The Banu Umayya came down from the sublime
After hopes and goals were unattainable.

38. They rise and rise above ranks that are theirs
Forever exalted or exalted.

39. So let him who is deluded by the hopes of wishes
And the temptations of fantasies refrain from this extent.

40. The times are not right except by
Their management in drafting and resolving.

41. The keys of patronage are suspended from them
With the supporter of opinions and inspiration.

42. The treasure of imams, the qualified one since he arose
To patronize caliphs and rulers.

43. The breast of the vulnerable rests assured with him
For the virtues of swords and pens.

44. The youth are paired with dignity, and their poise
Thus the times between tranquility and conflict.

45. They reveal the planets in processions whenever
The night of darkness extends to dawn.

46. With flags and swords of repute
Arranging braids forever and scattering insights.

47. And the nation's affairs are protected by them with a power
When the heated war intensifies.

48. Say to the caliphate, no opposition with
Abu Shuja' its guarantor zealously protecting.

49. And indeed your allegiance that he
Fights for and throws himself into was empowered.

50. And your resolve in the deputies was enough,
It silenced the noses of your enemies compellingly.

51. It cut off the hope of the dissenters against you
And their companions from the intoxication of dreams.

52. It sharpened eyes against your enemy, controlling
His breaths whether awake or asleep.

53. Until fortune brought him to you riding
The steed of dawn and the first light of emergence.

54. The openings of openings came to you from the hand of a patron
Who did not accept a withered gift or sword.

55. So ask your God to perpetuate his life for you
A thousand years after this year.
