1. Blood of Abu Fatak, eternal ally,
Overflowing with justice and praised for excellence,

2. Able and victorious, you humble and destroy
Every foe with mighty wrath,

3. Commanding and forbidding, feared and hoped for
In days of ease and tribulation alike,

4. Withholding and bestowing, honoring and debasing,
Unwavering in resolve, piercing in insight.

5. You have perfected Al-Kamil among the elite counselors
For Abu Al-Fath, chief of ministers.

6. You both defend the realms of Egypt
Shielding her from enemies.

7. You are his right hand, that if calamities appear,
The rest of his body seeks your protection.

8. O Abu Fatak, my patron, I cry
With sincerity and affection once hidden.

9. For you, beyond all people, my ode of praise
That distinguishes and honors the sublime.

10. Your virtues have moved my tongue
To tell how I extol the exalted ones,

11. And your generous hand and brow
Adorned with life and modesty.

12. They spare me from flattery, until
My face says "you have sustained me."

13. Had I called for your munificence and valor
In time of need, you would have answered my call.

14. I said to the one claiming to praise your valor,
"To praise the sun adds nothing to its radiance."

15. If we composed the stars in your honor, it would fall short
Of what you deserve in acclamation.

16. Too few are the stars to praise a king
Who has surpassed the stars of Gemini in glory.

17. Your drinking the medicine was not to cure sickness,
Hoping to gain health by drinking medicine.

18. Rather, you bestowed generosity on physicians
Until you overwhelmed them with gifts.

19. So the great king was delighted, and dragged
The train of might, health, and recovery.

20. And so was delighted the year of which you are most worthy
To be felicitated with glad tidings.
