1. Be my aid in gratitude for the blessings I've been granted
Help me, for truly I have not fulfilled the right of gratitude

2. First guide me to what deserves thanks, for I've
Admitted to inability, not dignified

3. If I composed the stars as lamps, how could I
When I've not composed except these words

4. Named Badr ibn Riziq whose ambitions
Were the tresses of glory, so the hopes' aspirations rose high

5. Crowned, served by angels is his court
Kissed, while enemies suffer unsheltered

6. Fate has tested his fierce blades in its events
Complaining of notches from their clashing

7. Dividing intention between might and pardon
Balancing judgment between grace and vengeance

8. Victory and support have allied with his blade
So it only sheds blood to stop bloodshed

9. How many triumphs has his pen achieved in fate
Resolve of triumph with sword and pen

10. And a stand scattering the Indians, what I composed
In it the tongues shreds of every association

11. You've come, O knight of Islam, its undaunted knight
Renowned for generosity in gloomy adversity

12. With you a resolve swore never to
Halt or blame the whites for their blame

13. When I saw the dawns and whites gathered
A gathering that separated souls for mending

14. Your sword called for pardon when able
While the lion disdains meat pressed to eat

15. You turned away while the light of victory blazed
On your flanks, behind and before the nations

16. And a Lord you strove studiously to unveil
Its veil, O revealer of veils

17. What Ali the Trustee did for the Prophet when
The pagans coveted to violate the sanctuary

18. Stations sprouted in absence, though you aren't
Absent, and I'm no accuser of the absent

19. With the sword you built a glory which in its loftiness said
"The pillar is a pillar that won't crumble"

20. A noble son we saw in his chastity
The wisdom of elders though not mature in years

21. Resembling your glory in manners and in nature
For the cub is like the lion in might and attack

22. Brother to the stars, his fortune is their rising
A moon dispelling the darkness of injustice and gloom

23. A king veils sins as they seek refuge
From his grace at the tilt of a stumbling step

24. His blades haven't ceased being drawn
To speak of him at dawn's tremor in the summits

25. And every seasoned steed that hasn't stopped
Its ears in clamor singing of not being restrained

26. And the generosities which none attained
Its least but the hopeful from glory and eminence

27. God has blessed him with favors so he abounds with them
Enriching the land and enriching from nothingness

28. In his face and hands what suns and life
Contain of water and vegetation in the clouds

29. You won't see him with creased brow or hands
Not joined in concord

30. If rain swore one day to shake my hand
Badr's fingers would abstain in that oath

31. I've known him generous, no barriers
Feared, and no neighbor wronged in quarrel

32. If I hadn't witnessed the glory of his nature myself
I wouldn't know the meaning of integrity and virtue

33. None knows him distant from hopes in him
And none knows his friends of blemished reputes

34. When he exults and daybreaks spread
He guides seekers with a guide's compassion

35. Fate and days haven't served me any hopes
Until I was one of his servants

36. Numerous are the envious of his blessings
In my view, though blessings not like envies

37. How often have I fled from him, dragging the train
Of his gowns, like gardens of sorrow and knowledge

38. I saunter between gifts and honors
Exhausting every mouth from thanking what's due

39. If I did good, then bounty made me speak
And gratitude in the meadow's breeze is everlasting

40. I thank the rhymes for the extent I drank
From the wine extracted from the vine of generosity

41. If any pleasure seemed from its words, then sway
My sides with its meanings, so do not blame
