1. Time has worn our garment and left us naked
We have worn the shirt of patience beautifully

2. We have concealed our pains and kept silent
And prevented our eyes from tearing

3. We have been content in the land of Lebanon with pain
As fresh water and with gentle breeze

4. And you see us as though we have not carried
Despair alive, nor hope slain

5. And as though the night we have stayed up
Hungry was no long night

6. And as though the injustice we have carried
For a time was no heavy burden

7. We have been content with all this from you, O time
So beware not to seek the impossible

8. The youth according to us dies wrongfully
And deprived, and does not die disgraced
