1. When we met unexpectedly
By Al-Safa, and eye met eye

2. Her cheeks blushed red, her husband denied knowing her
Surprised by the redness in both her cheeks

3. And said to her, “Get up from Al-Safa
Or else you will see terror between two jealous men”

4. So she said, while piercing my heart
With two wet arrows from her tearful eyes

5. My heart received them and my blood flowed
In two lines traced by two arrows

6. Upon the bank of Al-Safa
O you who protected Thurayya with his wealth

7. And was rendered helpless to separate two hearts
You killed Thurayya wrongfully and killed me
