1. They left Him nailed upon the cross
His blood gushing out from His wounds

2. He is the Lord of the skies in torment and subjugation
Suffering the plucking of the red dove

3. He yielded up His soul after prolonged agony
So the whole universe fell into turmoil

4. The sun set before its time of setting
And a darkness spread over the earth unfurling

5. After that the bellies of graves were ripped open
As hearts of rocks were split open too

6. And lightning flashed in the darkness like lines
Of raging fire and thunder roared in the air

7. Then stillness prevailed in the dust
Under the mute sorrow of nature

8. And the noisy one submitted to tranquility
And every living thing retreated to its burrow

9. It was a misfortune that silenced the birds
So they tucked themselves in and took shade

10. Except that the trees and flowers
Had between them a conversation to recount

11. A pine in Damascus said
My Lord, redeemer of all people, died

12. So my gloom and loneliness in my station
Signaled the pine's mourning

13. And a vine realized the mourning
For the death of that redeemer

14. Its grapes, now blackened
Ooze tears red as it squeezes them out

15. Then the cedar that is in Carmel said
My Lord died so grief takes root in me

16. And with my shade all graves are shaded
And with my branch the birds are deprived of perching

17. Then the willow appeared in regrets
With branches drooping to the ground

18. Hanging from over the Euphrates River
Scattering the morning dew from it

19. And to a cypress a gust of wind came
Bearing from the breath in Christ's chest

20. A breath that left Him in deliverance
So its sweat evaporated though it had been green

21. Then said the nettle, my Lord died
So after Him I am loyal to my bitterness

22. And with my hot breaths running
Is the poison that destroys life's cord

23. And when the bees come to suck my flowers
With my flowers, death for the bees is assured

24. Then the anemones cried out
He died so my sorrows gaped open

25. So look at the ember instead of my garden
For it is my heart after it caught fire

26. Every withered plant on the dust
Was stirred by elements of affliction

27. Except for pride, the owner of arrogance
Who witnessed the misfortune without being affected

28. When it was said the redeemer of people died
He said, one who died for the wicked

29. So I do not care about this dove
For I am pure, I do not change

30. There was then a bird in the district
An angel roaming the skies

31. In his hands he held a cup of blood
That he obtained from by the most pure cross

32. The angel heard the haughty one speak
So he melted some of that blood

33. Over the angel's sweat that did not suffer
For an affliction the inanimate burst apart

34. Then he called him, O brother of wonder
If you were steadfast on the day of affliction

35. Then forever stand the disturbance
O brother of arrogance, your Lord is Greater

36. And so the haughty one since that time
Got used to shaking at every moment

37. And the rustling of leaves in the branches
Two cups at His command, He informed
