1. O young lion, the den is not disgraced
The cedars are a mountain not easily diminished

2. The high peaks bow down before it
And though horns may break against it

3. Since the days of Moses it has stood firm
As you see, a sturdy fortress

4. Revived by brave lions
Whose roar subdues all foes

5. Among all the lions of the land
None can match its equal

6. And among the lands of Lebanon
It is a brilliant light, pride of its den

7. Brows bow down before it
Above its brow is another brow

8. And it holds sway over Lebanon
A hand all eyes turn to

9. Faithful it remains to its promise
Its protector is the Trustworthy One

10. Its days are jewels
That adorn the history of Lebanon

11. Dearest among them, a day for us
Of pride and debt

12. The ages have not seen its like
Nor have eons borne its equal

13. On it appeared that formidable army
Led by the staunch young lion

14. At its signal they stirred
At its call, they rose up

15. Whenever it was girded with resolve
Fortresses enveloped it

16. With its might it overpowered
Those once thought rigid and unbending

17. Had it been like those who delight
In honor and faith

18. It would have met the councils
While remaining guarded and protected

19. O you whose leadership
Vanquishes all doubts

20. For you we would ransom our lives
As the zealous ransom the precious

21. Exiles pour out their lamentations to you
For you are the precious, the invaluable

22. O young lion, do not reproach
An age ruled by sorrows

23. Fate is a jinn, and who reproaches
One made mad by insanity?

24. Patience - laughing fortune shall return
And the sorrowful shall yet smile

25. Misfortune's gloom shall pass away
And good fortune's gleam shall appear

26. The night is ending - it shall birth
Its burden and the dawn shall be seen

27. Those who never helped you -
Let them suffer, helpless and unsupported

28. While the sincere pour out to you
The precious pearl - for you are precious
