1. And I am their brother in every affliction,
When they die, they will not find a brother like me.
١. وَإِنّي أَخوهُم عِندَ كُلِّ مُلِمَّةٍ
إِذا مُتُّ لَم يَلقَوا أَخاً لَهُمُ مِثلي
2. My soul gives generously to them with what my hands possess,
My help, so no shamefulness upon them, nor my stinginess.
٢. تَجودُ لَهُم نَفسي بِما مَلَكَت يَدي
وَنَصري فَلا فُحشي عَلَيهُم وَلا بُخلي
3. And for a master whom I defend driving harm away from him out of nobility,
If I wished he would spend the evening angry with me out of disrespect,
٣. وَمَولىً دَفَعتُ الدَرءَ عَنهُ تَكَرَّماً
وَلَو شِئتُ أَمسى وَهوَ مُغضٍ عَلى تَبلِ
4. But I protect those blamed and belong
To the path of fathers who grew my nobility before me.
٤. وَلَكِنَّني أَحمي الذِمارَ وَأَنتَمي
إِلى سَعيِ آباءٍ نَمَوا شَرَفي قَبلي
