O sons of Dhayyan, return the wealth of my neighbor,

1. O sons of Dhayyan, return the wealth of my neighbor,
And free those chained in captivity,

2. Return the captives if you wish out of favor,
Or ransom them if you prefer with money,

3. You are known for kindness and generosity,
With hands that give freely and bountifully,

4. Whenever you withhold a thing it can only be taken
Through asking - no other chains can bind it,

5. And war with you, O Dhayyan's sons, is war
That leaves one nauseated, however brave,

6. Your neighbors find you easy, O Dhayyans' sons
A neighbor counts as one of the family,

7. Like green-breasted birds lined up together
Has Abdu al-Madani adorned you beautifully,

8. O Dhayyan's sons, the clan of Ziyad are
Known for valiance and glorious deeds,

9. So treat me kindly, O Dhayyan's sons,
And I will praise you till the end of time.
