1. He grew accustomed to extending his palm
Even if he were to close it, his fingers would not respond
١. تعوَّدَ بسط الكفِّ حتى لو أنه
ثناها لقبضٍ لم تُجِبهُ أنامِلُهُ
2. You see him, whenever you come to him joyfully
As though you are giving him that which you hope for
٢. ترَاه إذا ما جئته متهللا
كأنَّك تُعطيهِ الذي أنتَ آمِلُهُ
3. And if there was nothing in his palm but his soul
He would give it generously. So let the questioner be mindful of Allah.
٣. ولو لم يكن في كفه غيرُ رُوحِهِ
لجاد بها فليتقِّ اللهَ سائلهُ
4. He is the sea, no matter which way you come to it
Its coast is generosity and kindness.
٤. هو البحر من أيّ النواحي أتيتَهُ
فلُجّتُهُ المعروفُ والجودُ ساحلُهُ
