1. You had well-founded views about religion,
Then Allah sent down a Quran to purify them.

2. You were the first whose eyes were delighted
By the companionship of the Hanifah, and her wishes were fulfilled.

3. You had been the bitterest of her enemies, but by the grace of Allah,
You became a fortress protecting her from her enemies.

4. You went out seeking to harm her through her Muhammad,
Yet the Hanifah has an Almighty Lord who supports her.

5. No sooner did you hear the eloquent verses
Than you turned back, intending to oppose those who opposed her.

6. You heard Surah Ta Ha recited by its reciter,
So it shook the intention you had harbored.

7. And you spoke words about it that cannot be matched
By the words of a lover who stays up night chanting her praises.

8. The day you became Muslim, the truth triumphed and
Heavy burdens were lifted from the religion’s shoulders.

9. Bilal cried out a cry at which hearts were humbled,
And obeyed the command of their Creator.

10. So you are the helper of the Chosen One in his time,
And you are the savior of the Truthful One in his time.

11. How often did Allah’s Messenger shelter you, delighted
By the wisdom you possess when giving counsel.
