1. The rising suns dedicate their dawns to you,
So unveil your face to the shining day.

2. Blessed is this day of salvation, it shall not
Depart from you at morn or eve.

3. By God, be auspicious and good tidings for us
In the return of an exile and freeing of a prisoner.

4. You came while days around you are adorned
Like two ranks where the flash of blades shimmer.

5. You emerged from the unseen's veils wrapped
In splendor, with a thousand dawns in your every glance.

6. If transmigration of souls was true in existence
I'd see in you the transmigration of spirits.

7. You would be, as you are, the labyrinth’s day
In might, majesty, and clemency.

8. A day whose glory and radiance show
In beauty the power of the splitter of dawn.

9. The sun cast on it a raiment of submission
And March adorned it with the softest silk.

10. God made it lasting for us in His tablet,
Eternal, without erasure or death.

11. Greet it for us, O flowers, and fill
Its environs with your fragrant breeze.

12. And waft it for us, O Spring, with all
The dew and light that you make bloom.

13. Rejoice, my heart, a nation has assumed your throne
United at the waist for reform.

14. Our children, the talk of the valleys,
Are not miserly towards their homelands.

15. They endured bitter tribulations and attained
The sweet fruits diluted in cups.

16. Bearing the weapon of patience, they are not defenseless,
Assailed by the Lord of elements and cleaving.

17. Patience, if you think, is the greatest weapon,
And truth, if they know, is the best armament.

18. They denied the rights of the weak, so has
Such denial come in any scripture?

19. How many times did their vain promises numb
Egypt’s nerves, like the promises of the peach tree.

20. So the Egyptian was falsely content, saying
“Have you seen a child pacified with a toy?”

21. And they were evasive until their words
Became like motes strewn without winds.

22. When the flatterer awoke and the painful cry was raised,
Those obscurities dissipated and the suns of truth rose.

23. They knew, praise God, that our resolution
In any shade but God’s will not hold.

24. So settle, O flatterer, the flatterer’s sanctum
Was never made permitted.

25. Who dares attack the lions in their thickets
Or swim with the crocodile’s raft?

26. The Nile has an eternal glory in time
From the days of Amon and Fattah.

27. So ask the ages about it and ask its relics
In Egypt - how many tourists they have seen.

28. O holder of the Two Lands, you have no equal,
No roamer of the sublime as sublime as you.

29. No light shines atop a light as resplendent
As the crown atop your shining brow.

30. Egypt recalled in your rule the days of al-Muizz
And the rule of Salah al-Din.

31. In every drop of your majesty is splendor,
And every drop casts a shade of wing.

32. Yours are Egypt and Sudan and the river that struts
Between ruby and sapphire shores.

33. And Sudan’s towering trees bear witness
They were planted in your forefathers' days.

34. No wonder if a chanter sang your praises
Or a eulogist in the eulogist’s arena.

35. The beauty of song and cry is like its beauty
To the expert alongside prostration.

36. Or have you not ruled Egypt and her Nile
That flows between her wide meadows -

37. Gardened, nipa-palmed, open-spaced -
As Amr said in her burial grounds:

38. You see it as pearls, as if
Strewn with necklaces across its soil.

39. And to onlookers it is emerald,
Its greenness heals all injuries.

40. And it is musk, whose darkness is split
Like leather by the plowman’s blade.

41. Parliament's causes are prepared,
Nothing's left but the key.

42. It is in your hands, entrusted to a people
Who praise you with eloquent tongues.

43. Return the entrustment, O heart, returning
Entrustments is the mark of the magnificent.

44. And carry your people, O heart, to glory,
To an eminent place in existence.

45. God and creation bear witness that we
Are seekers of clear rights in life.

46. To guide the path like the sailor's needle.
Look to it sincerely - you have nothing

47. Besides it of bliss and success.
Decision-making is through counsel, this is what

48. Repels whims and turns back every tyrant.
It does not stray from its path, as if

49. The path was made for it without detours.
Tirelessly it turns back your enemy’s plots

50. And foils the misguided invader’s raiding.
Embrace counsel in your independence,

51. Let no partisan inclination whisper.
God’s hand is with the collective, so strike

52. With the staff of the collective and be victorious.
Be men of action and prove false

53. The dawn’s harbinger bearing a lantern.
Leave negligence in matters, for the specter

54. Of negligence is the most dreadful specter.
By God, hardship has not reached the extent with us

55. Save for discord and disagreement amongst ourselves.
Arise, O Egypt's son, you are free,

56. Regain the glory of ancestors and desire no rest.
Roll up your sleeves and struggle in life, for this

57. Is your world, abode of warring and endeavor.
And drink deeply the sweet water of life,

58. But if it becomes bitter, then make do with what's available.
And if sorrows insist, do not despair

59. And counter insistence with insistence.
Plunge into life though its waves may surge -

60. The plunging of seas is the swimmer's regimen.
Make your perception precede your step, guiding you -

61. Think not the water shallow like mirage.
And if hardships gather and show hostility,

62. Repel them and withdraw with the withdrawing.
On sea let not the fires of battleships bend you,

63. On land let not the forest of spears twist you.
See how the spirit of toil has raised the Westerners

64. Among nations to the natural laborer's way.
They mounted the seas though frozen their water,

65. The land a melted gravel, blazing embers spewing.
Their youth meets time with marvelous determination

66. And audacity, facing tribulations boldly.
He breaches the barrens' expanses venturing forth

67. While the road's nakedness to him is like paved stone.
Yet the flatterer's son in the flattery remains still,

68. His eye unambitious, desiring nothing.
As you know, he does not utilize his brilliance,

69. And his brilliance is like the sudden grip of lightning.
He has ended like the Nile's water whose outpouring

70. Is lost in the sea amid turbulent erosion.
So arise and leave complaining of time, do not wail

71. In deep misery with lamenting.
And profit Egypt with your capital, dignity,

72. For ingenuity is the profit's guarantor.
And if you are granted leadership, then weave it

73. Two coats of resolve and determination.
And drink from the cool water with enjoyment

74. For how often you have found the water undrinkable.
Rejoice, my heart, for a nation has assumed your throne

75. United at the waist for reform.
