1. The writer of Egypt has passed away into hiding
So let the pens mourn him or gracefully lament

2. My longing for those masterpieces worn by time
That wrote wisdom and stirred the perceptive

3. Al-Muwailihi the witty did not die
Until he conquered minds and cultured them
