1. O day of honoring Hifni
You have sharpened my mind for poetry

2. So answer my verse, O poetry
And aid me, O eloquence

3. Help me fulfill some of my debt
If that would suffice

4. O you who excelled
In every science and art

5. You built for poetry in us
And for prose, a great pillar

6. By my life, you weren’t created
In the East except to build

7. So every eastern poet
Is a graduate of Hifni

8. If he composes poetry, it circulates
On the day of gathering

9. Or if he composes prose, a spirit
Crosses us, remote and distressed

10. So if you begin with words
Of which, then with a cup, delight

11. And incline towards frivolity and desire
Away from the wisdom of calm

12. For living in the daughter of thought
Clarifies, and in the daughter of lowliness

13. And if you seek more
Then in the intimacy of pillows

14. If not for my shyness, religion, reason and age
I would on Hifni's day

15. Call for the intoxication of wine
And not say to Hifni

16. What was said before to Ma'n
Do not forget a life that turned

17. Between explanation and text
Your youth turned in it

18. Between extension and melody
And you tasted what came from increase

19. And from the explanations of Al-Shumuni
And from the marginalia of the supercommentaries

20. On the texts of Ibn Jinni
What the nights did not let you taste

21. Turned the back of the aged
Days the sultan trifles

22. With his entertainment and sings
He spends the night conversing what I will not

23. Name or allude to
He complains to you and you complain

24. To him of a life of injustice
Days Hifni calls you

25. From life - deliver me!
Give me a pistol - I'm tired

26. Of walking around scared
Who can give me a coin for some meat

By God, I'm famished until

28. The birds in my stomach screamed
Days your feast day is one

29. In which you win with oils
Days more delicious to you

30. Than the tooth of a youth
I say this though I

31. Think well of you
So if you become minister one day

32. And we come to congratulate
Then do not be unreachable

33. Or prolong avoidance
Nor say arrogantly

34. "O people, I am...”
I fear death upon you

35. As if you're from me
If you complain of a headache

36. I prolong my condolences
And if you're stricken with frailty

37. I prepare my coffin and shroud
And if I supplicate for a living one

38. It’s you I mean
My life is hostage to yours

39. So live, live a thousand years
We'll spend it while Iblis is in it

40. Wearing out the nights and perishing
I have been excessive in joking, so forgive

41. My master and pardon me
For the sin is the sin of my passion

42. So curse my passion and leave me

I have tasted the two from it

And listen to the praise of a loving one

45. Who flies with truth and extols
You have gathered traits

46. That encompass all beauty
