1. To you alone, not another, I complain,
Of the cruelty of the aloof ones who destroy me.

2. So have mercy on your captive, for I
Will either cast down my weapons or break free.

3. I complain to one who does not answer
And feels no pity for the complainant.

4. And I say, "O eye, shed tears!"
And it says, "O eye, spill tears!"

5. O one who turns away, my misfortune exposed
And made permissible your mockery of me,

6. I am finished, yet my only
Hope is to meet with you again.
