1. Kinanah was zealous in her wars,
As were Tamim, Asad on that day of meeting.

2. Neither us nor them gave way,
We met tribes of noble lineage,

3. From Hadramawt and people of Al-Jand.
We met the horsemen on Thursday,

4. Eid, Saturday and then Sunday.
Their reinforcements behind their ears,

5. While we had no help from our people.
When they called out their fathers' names,

6. We invoked Ma'add - excellent Ma'add!
We went on splitting their skulls,

7. Not sparing any in that country.
Excellent were the horsemen that day of meeting,

8. Say a large number, say a multitude!
But we swept them away violently,

9. War has prosperity and adversity.
We stabbed the horsemen amidst the heaving,

10. And drove the horses like driven cattle.
And we said Ali is a father to us,

11. And we to him are obedience like sons.
