1. The days have wounded us,
And none but God can heal.

2. Do not beg people for your needs,
They are but hopeless and futile.

3. Do not complain to them, for they are
Deaf to the cries of the anguished.

4. Do not judge their actions with reason,
For they follow no principles.

5. If you mix with them,
You will betray your faith.

6. They devour one another's flesh,
Unconcerned with slander's harm.

7. No piety protects them
From gossip, nor manners forbid.

8. None who come to their door
Escape the dog's disgrace but the vile.

9. So flee from people to your Lord,
No good comes from mingling with people.
