1. The people of high office and its elevations
While the people of virtues are scorned among them

2. They have lowered us because we are not of their kind
To the status of beasts in negligence according to them

3. So why should they care to stop our misery
And why should they strive to raise our status

4. If only we could make them know
Our estimation of them, or if only they knew

5. They have comfort from ignorance and excessive wealth
While we have hardship, knowledge, and poverty
