1. If visiting the tomb of the best of mankind brings glory
Then we rejoice in visiting his son's tomb

2. Does not the light of Mustafā shine from his forehead
Like the sun making the moons glow

3. So heal your anguish by being near him, for long
Has visiting his tomb brought wellbeing when fates rebel

4. And guard your eyelids from his brilliance, for verily it
Dazzles sights with its flare

5. And if his gentle fingers touch your lips
Beware of drowning, for they are seas

6. And pride yourself over all kings for kissing them
None after him has pride for the esteemed

7. And boast through Ibn al-Khaṭīb’s pride, for pride
Through the son of al-Khaṭīb has shares

8. What a difference between the Prophet's son and others!
Is a dark night equal to a bright day?

9. This adorns poetry with the scent of his praise
Embellishing it with fine words

10. He is the Caliph and son of the most generous Messenger
Scion of the one centuries take pride in

11. Essence of nobility and Caliphs from
The house of the maiden and the one who wore her gown

12. Most glorious heir to rule of Ismā‘īl
The resolute hero whose weapons bear perfume

13. Greatest Sultan and most generous ruler
Whose rule the free have been ennobled by

14. Most deserving under the sky to be seen
As king of the land and its people his helpers

15. But if all hearts love him
Bodies alone dislike him and keep away

16. This is Sulaymān, the contented, son of Muḥammad
From whose forehead lights have shone

17. He who restored vigorous caliphate
And with it established a beacon for Muslims

18. He honored Allah’s religion, so birds in his plains
Chant and trill due to his gratitude

19. He protected his protector with his judgment and sword
For near him the beacon is kept lit

20. His tongue on the day of debate is sword and
His teeth on the day of war are fire

21. With ʿAlawī cognizance and magnanimity
Before which even great dangers bow down

22. Wild beasts fear his might in their lairs
As heroes shrink and they are giants

23. Time fears the justice of his rule; excellent
Is he as days go by, the best neighbor!

24. He who is hoped for relief from every problem
Too heavy for the horizons to bear

25. He whom we seek when darkness falls
In nights of misfortune and confused thoughts

26. Like our coming to him while barrenness spread
And harm befell us all

27. Knowing, the sight of his face removes blight
And hardship shifts away

28. A master who saw the world with an ascetic’s glance
Knowing its beauty to be deceptive

29. So he rejected it prideless while his noble
Ancestors were bestowed honors

30. Choosing the next abode with a gnostic’s care
Without which paradise was not home for him

31. The next rejoiced in him, as through him
The world was set aright, stability for its people

32. Forbearance and modesty of his spread through
The wilds, tales of his generosity passed around

33. As well as most delightful qualities
From whose gentle breeze flowers blossomed

34. If you meet him, you meet a smiling face
Radiant, sorrows dispelled from his forehead

35. Happy, through him distress is uncovered
From a lineage who inherited highness and harmony

36. Rushing to noble deeds, never will you see
From them but those whose virtues gush forth

37. Righteous, glorious leaders, virtuous scholars
Lamps by which seekers obtain insight

38. Caliphs, nobles, generous pillars
Guided in darkness by their light

39. Every wise, cautious flier fears his sanctuary –
Swords at the ready, the stalwarts’ refuge

40. A path to piercing chests and kidneys
While they bear the instruments of war

41. Herds, to plunder souls when they attack
So the hopes of enemies are shortened

42. God fortified their binding pact through them
And God chooses best to uphold his creed

43. Empowering them with mighty victory before which
Hearts quake, taking cover behind screens

44. Have you not seen how humiliation marks unbelief before their might?
Their swords threaten any who oppose them

45. East yearns to be west so that familiarity
Spreads among refugees gathered there

46. Hoping to gain honor from the noble one
If there the seat of caliphate lies

47. Time brought its reins back to his chest, as though
Al-Fārūq in our times holds sway

48. Justice is served, souls are aspirational
Religion manifests, sciences studied

49. People amid ease of life in a paradise
Below which rivers flow

50. Let them recall favors encompassing them
God knows they are plentiful

51. Let us pray they continue through his permanence
For continuity bodes well for us

52. May God make his victory a constant
In glory, the divine decree humbled before it

53. And perpetuate the rule of heaven protecting him
With a care built by Him as ramparts

54. The earth a handful held in his palms, its twin
Disclosing to him the unseen

55. As long as you, House of Muḥammad, remain
A sanctuary pilgrims circle

56. Or a chanter extols your majesty
Adorning his litany with your mention

57. Then may blessings ever be upon the Prophet and his folk
For in praising you I’ve reached no limit
