1. The decree of death cannot be reversed
Not for a noble father or newborn child

2. All will meet it, even one who dwells
In a tower fortifying the land

3. It is but the reward on Resurrection Day for
A deed which gladdens the joyous face

4. So take provision of piety, for its patron
Is more generous than a lauded lord

5. And make your love of righteousness and its people
A cause for attaining success and your goal

6. Especially the Pole of Mankind, al-Shadhili
For he who guaranteed salvation for his follower

7. And so the delegations come to his door
Seeking from his overflowing munificence

8. And many an Abu Hassan Ali has set out
Pleasing him, with a affectionate heart

9. And many recited his litanies and repeated them
Grey-haired, healing the illness of the lost

10. Then he answered his Lord when he called
And passed away by God's decree under the sand

11. So when you visit him, say, recording the date,
"Grant him in the Abode of Bounty an abode of munificence."
