Yet in its gathering it was still singular

Perplexing the minds of mankind, knots tied

5. And of a cheek that diffused the scent of its down
As if from the cheeks it distills roses

6. And of eyes that narrate the tales of Babylon
Although in their lids there lies a sharp Indian sword

7. And of eyebrows that are crescents but rather
Darkness crept to it from the eyelids so they blackened

8. And of a smile that set my heart aflame an ember
It contained it even if it was roses for its obtainer

9. So the shape appealed just as the crafting of a ring
And lips that pearls are jealous of its beauty and freshness

10. And a scent whose every word when she spoke
It is nothing but pearls in her necklace

11. And a cheek that musk blows from it as if
It is adraft Allah granted one who settled eternity

12. And a gazelle neck underneath which lies a necklace
Leading coyness at a regulated pace for that it aimed

13. She brought me that beauty perfect and says to me
To you my father these beauties are gifted

14. So I said after white hair would I love
When the prime of life and its exuberance passed us
