1. O my God, You are the best refuge
Grant us good health and healing, for healing comes from You

2. Indeed this plague is a blazing fire
That gives light to the hearts of the people of Tawhid

3. How many groups were torn apart and hearts
And joys took wing like the wild doves

4. And tears like pearls strewn
On cheeks their pallor makes bloodless

5. And faces like suns were veiled
If you saw them when the cover was removed

6. They were honored with soil as their carpet though
The air and water may have harmed them

7. That was due to our great sin, as
Our Prophet foretold in his news

8. God is angered by sins, so His enemies
Ride roughshod when they grow arrogant

9. It is no doubt a mercy, but we
Are too weak, O Powerful One, to bear it

10. So much mercy You have, and You give
Without tribulation whenever You wish

11. Our Lord, our Lord, we flee to You
We have no one but You for refuge

12. Out of our need and humility we came to You
We have no power or self-sufficiency

13. We knock on the door with supplication and hope
So excellent is supplication and hope

14. Remain for us, our Lord, and for Your house
Before the final destruction comes upon all

15. We were not inferior to the people of Jonah
When they believed and enjoyed themselves for a while

16. You lifted the torment from them for a time
But then they died, for no creation lives forever

17. And we have the best of men as our Messenger
Below whom are the prophets and intercessors

18. And we have a firm foothold with our Lord
As we are the best and the martyrs

19. And the Mighty Book is a clear light
Dispelling the darkness between us

20. And even if some among us disobey, there are those among us
Whose supplication, when they call, is answered

21. Our Lord, a promise has come from Your Prophet
In a hadith narrated by trusted ones:

22. “Have mercy on those in the earth, and the Exalted
God will have mercy on you” – and the merciful are shown mercy

23. So You are the most deserving of that, so have
Mercy by which tribulation is dispelled

24. For perceptions have gone astray because of it
And the eyes of all peoples are blinded

25. Those who are forbearing have no composure before it
No, there is no comforter beside it

26. The affairs of all peoples have been straitened while You are the Hope
In the midst of plague, and medicine is scarce

27. And the Mighty Book gives glad tidings of ease
After hardship – and from You comes fulfillment of promises

28. So ease should arrive immediately
And sufferings surely disappear

29. And may the prayers of God and then peace
Be upon the Imam who shows us the way,

30. Ahmad the Chosen Intercessor, saying for every soul
“As for me - I am free of blame”

31. So the Messenger says “Praise belongs to God”
And you are called to delight and well-being

32. O You of mighty, splendid station - through You
Tribulations were lifted from all peoples

33. And after the Family, his contentment guided those
In his cloak - and for all followers, in every age

34. There is no end with the passing of time
O you who believe, repent all together

35. O people, it is you who are the utterly poor
