1. Glory to God for Sultan Mahmud
Son of sultans, Mahmud, so glorified

2. God's caliph - none higher in renown
Than Adam and prophet of God, David

3. Of the Ottomans, lords of kings and those
Who came like necklaces of ruby endowed

4. They ruled people and upheld the faith and opened
All that is good, each door once closed

5. They are sultans, never has sun declined or set
On likes of them in victory of God's unity

6. And our Sultan Mahmud came after them
With every splendid thought applauded

7. Yet man may oft misjudge his purpose
And speak of him in ways misunderstood

8. God granted him no rule o’er creation
Save for some higher reason obscured

9. Necks bowed submissive to his reign
All fathers and sons in obeisance accrued

10. Far sultans dread but whispers of his feats
For his mighty awe leaves no applause withheld

11. Each high Bashaw, though lofty his station
Is but a slave in fetters clasped and sealed

12. O glory of the faith, if any disparage
Islam entire, with each battalion and brigade

13. Whose might from the Lord of Majesty dazzled
By land and sea in ways beyond all precedent

14. The non-Arabs witness it, Arabs acknowledge
East and west, from blacks to whites communed

15. You who humbled the heathen hordes
Though times may twist what was divined

16. God never breaks his promised victory
But only postpones till a date foreseen

17. In you all hopes in each travail convene
None spurned who comes seeking your threshold

18. From far lands I came, and I envisioned
My goal in you, my purposeIPE

19. Long may your grace shelter Islam
And rain torment without remit on tyrants rude

20. By the sanctity of the Chosen Guide
To him most purely greetings accorded

21. Enveloping his followers in religion entire
And the caliphs to Sultan Mahmud
