1. The years of drought have not visited me, O Abu Ali
I have no surplus beyond sustenance
١. لم تزرني أبا عليّ سنو الـ
ـجدب عندي بعد الكفاف فضولُ
2. Except that I seek a noble goal
And for the noble, only the noble is sought
٢. غيرَ أنّي باغي جليلٍ من الأمـ
ـر وعندَ الجليل يبغى الجليلُ
