1. So what his Lord chose
As the best of people, as an advisor and supporter

2. He stood at Khumm where al-Ghadir was
And lowered the saddles and rested from the journey

3. And they set up the basin for him, then he climbed
Upon a pulpit that was once a camel saddle

4. And called out in the morning to the gathering of pilgrims
So they came to him, young and old

5. Then he said, and in his hand was Haydar
Appealing to him, explaining and gesturing

6. “Lo, whoever I am his master
Then this master of his is decided, it will not change

7. Did I convey?” They said “Yes”
So he said “Witness, absent or present

8. The present among you conveys to the absent
And I bear witness to my Lord, the All-Hearing, All-Seeing”

9. So stand for the order of the King of the heavens
And pledge allegiance to him, each one taking him as leader

10. So they stood to pledge allegiance to him, clasping
Hands. So he sensed reluctance among them

11. Then he said “My God, and Protector of the Guardian
And be the enemy, for him, of the ungrateful

12. And forsake those who forsake him, they are forsaken
And be for those who support him a victorious supporter”

13. So how do you see the prayer of Al-Mustafa
Being answered or scattered dust?

14. I love you, O the second of Al-Mustafa
And the one who witnessed for people about him at Al-Ghadir

15. And I bear witness that the honest Prophet
Conveyed about you a public call

16. And those who opposed you
Will enter hell, and evil is their fate
