1. I pass by Hussein's tomb
And say to his most fragrant bones

2. O most fragrant one, you still are
Pouring profuse, streaming tears

3. No life is sweet after your loss
With horses charging chaotically

4. A grave containing a sweet musk
Whose fathers are the best of creation

5. His fathers, people of leadership
Of caliphate and trusteeship

6. Of virtue and praised temper
Of pleasing, acceptable traits

7. So if you pass by his tomb
Then descend and stop the riding beast

8. And cry for the pure one, the pure
And the most immaculate, most fragrant

9. Like the crying of a wailing woman
Bereft one day of her beloved

10. And curse the memory of Umar Bin Sa’d
And his army armed with spears

11. And Shamir Bin Jawshan who
Was destroyed by his wretched soul

12. They made the son of their prophet’s daughter
A target, as pearls are thrown

13. Nothing led them to fight him
Except greed and desire for money

14. When they called him to come
To be judged by the sons of treason

15. The sons of the most despicable villain
And the most despicable of them, Sajjah

16. But he disobeyed them and his
Honored, dignified soul refused

17. So they attacked him with their swords
Their armor and fine Yemeni clothes

18. And white swords and Yemeni blades
Their tall Median horses

19. While they were thousands and he had
Only seventy Hāshimī men

20. So they confronted him in the rear
Coming from behind the dunes

21. Certain that they were being led
To the causes of prosperity

22. Oh eye, cry for as long as
You live for people of integrity

23. No excuse to refrain from crying
Blood, while you are free
