1. O people of Kufa, I am a faithful friend to you
Since I was a child till seventy years of age

2. I love you, support you, and praise you
This is destined upon me by fate's decree

3. For loving the Trustee of Mustafa, and it suffices
With Mustafa, and with him among all people

4. And the two Masters, the best role models, and their sons
Name the one who came with verses and chapters

5. He is the Imam we hope for salvation through him
From the heat of fire on the enemies, it will flare

6. I wrote my poetry to you, asking from you
As I was moved from a house to a grave

7. That none be near me except you, people of our Basra
Those who deny or resent the full moon

8. Nor the tyrants whose oppression has befriended them
Their traits surely becoming unknown

9. And shroud me in pure white, nothing mixed in it
Of impurity or any other dye

10. And do not let the hypocrites walk with me, they are
The worst of creation, female or male

11. May God save me with His mercy
And my praise of the shining pearls from Hellfire
