When horrors shook the earth and sky.

3. Amr ibn Abd marched with his troops
With brightly polished coats of mail,

4. As though their clothes were stained with blood
Of warriors or the markup of a trail.

5. At dawn the Hashimite nobles strode
To Abdishams in fearful mail,

6. As if they and their armored steeds
Were mountains marching with their scale.
