1. Tell us, you band of sinners
About this affliction and torment

2. The day God enforces justice upon you
And sends down fire from the highest heavens

3. Fire seeks elevation by nature
How has it been brought down to the depths

4. How by force it plummeted to the earth
While it rises above the air by diffusion

5. You have become cinders, nay ashes
Scattered by poisons across horizons

6. Moral corruption has spread since then
Created from the dregs of morals

7. Your vileness encompasses every land and country
Especially in Syria and Iraq

8. The people of Lot are as though made
From your thorax, O people of hypocrisy

9. God delays incarnation, but
Your abomination was the cause of addiction

10. You have turned away from life and
Persist in evil with a poisoned cup

11. Owls hoot in your ruins
Nothing remains but the eternal God

12. Ruin has ravaged it in length and breadth
And destruction has made it unrecognizable

13. Its cities have collapsed like the wind
When trumpets of war sound

14. None responds to a caller
Nor bids farewell or meets again

15. And to this day, witnesses against you
Are fruits that tell of burning

16. With smoke that prophecies
Of the foreordained, creating Omnipotent

17. With roots whose branches have withered
Stripped of the garb of leaves

18. God has thundered from His throne angrily
Starting with a terrifying lightning bolt

19. Dazzling light has flashed from you
A growing, intensifying fire

20. You have enjoyed its heat so pleasantly
Everlasting, without divorce

21. Raise your worries and direct your gaze
Why have you lowered it in submission?

22. The dove's urgent call has come to you
So prepare to depart by untying the knot

23. It is better than illness and medicine
And a cure that does not last

24. And conflict on the deathbed
And forced union with unbreakable ties

25. Every living soul is destined for death
And a meeting that ends in separation

26. You feel safe from beasts of prey
While ruin lies under layers of crust

27. That which has destroyed you
Remains constant and unbound

28. You have woven ropes of despair for yourselves
And made hopelessness your nature

29. And have taken from life a share
Which on the day of death is the worst trait

30. Have you felt secure from punishment? For this you
Are in severe, tight shackles

31. O flock struck by the calamity of blatant sin
So ruin came upon you like a piercing arrow

32. God unleashed His arrows and scattered them
From the impregnable citadels and towers

33. Those lightning bolts have left them thirsty
But He will quench them with a drink of inferno

34. And tested them with thunder that seized them
From the horizon of rumbling and lightning

35. A mark has been placed on them—no escape
For them from stigmatization and defamation

36. And flashes when they appeared have blinded them
So they have shed copious tears

37. Since the guardian of tearfulness has quenched their bodies
Their tears equal flowing streams

38. They have thus abandoned love of God in their hearts
So He has separated it with the heat of burning

39. The embers have ignited it, but alas
No tears from you with the pouring of calamities

40. Over forbidden murder, sodomy
Substitution, arrogance, and hypocrisy

41. Then isolation denies pollination followed
By desire that will not be permitted by consensus

42. Every pervert clings to its kind
Every homosexual holds fast to one like himself

43.
Some of you continue to suckle others

44. From the breasts of hypocrisy—how vile!
You have drunk turbid water in thirst

45. What immorality of a thirsty water-drawer!
You have assumed what you have falsely presented as beautiful

46. Yet it is the worst of tastes and bitter fare
Little ones have imitated adults

47. And come to resemble them in good order
Like sheep that imitate a staff

48. Placed near them in the watering troughs
Every person has become the subject

49. Of disagreement by fomenters of division
If there is impairment in an origin

50. Reactions resemble its derivatives
They have caught up with their pursuers

51. So many Arabic forms follow by attachment
They trade in corruption while each one

52. Is prepared with their anger for confrontation
Their proximity to filth is like the preposition “bi”

53. Specified for grammatical annexation
They have settled into inferno with resolved anger

54. After that commotion and failure
They have slept in their passions and awoken

55. As the axis of the circle of anxiety
That borrowing of body against body

56. Has acquainted you with strength of ties
It has loaned you in poverty a hand’s length

57. How much is a hand in the age of hypocrisy?
You exchange rights wrongfully

58. Forbidden in goods and transactions
You have disgraced reputation with this disagreement

59. Sold among you for the cheapest markets
O what a state you have come to

60. In the way of tearing and ripping apart!
A reputation that has disgraced the essence of a reputation

61. Realize it with the pearls of the deepest meanings
Tears of despair will not benefit the sinner

62. But tears of repentance in humility
O you immoral flattering sinner, alas!

63. For the evils of your intimate tongue
May God bar you with affliction, tribulations

64. Harm, misery, and toil
The Almighty has clothed a body in pleasure

65. But has enriched it with the intensity of sweat
Renew your heart to possess purity, for wine

66. Cannot be preserved in flimsy leather
And discard what you have collected

67. By the grace of the Compassionate, Merciful
Mary, the virgin, pride of all glory

68. Noblest of creations, quintessence of the Creator
She has surpassed all people and angels in purity

69. Exaggeratedly so and to the utmost degree
A sea of generosity pouring without islands

70. Its abundance to the people still increasing
Noah's arc, and tight covenantal bow

71. Stable for it is the dome of the covenant
It is a gate through which the wisdom of God has passed

72. And remains tightly shut
Confident in His spirit like His Father

73. For He and the Father are the source of emanation
And cling to Her if you wish to ascend

74. To the Most High, for She is a ladder and lift
None but Her dispels the clamor of hearts

75. She is the light of intellects and visions
Make us realize so it is no burden

76. For You to tear the dress of tearing apart
We have suffered and become captives

77. And confused since conflict occurred
I find no comfort but You relieving

78. The burden of worries that I face
How many have You turned a devious or sincere heart

79. With wings for those of sublime spiritual states
For they master tyrants with might

80. Not with white antelope and fleet steeds
So mend, O Virgin, a broken heart

81. That has sought protection from You, best Ally
I have delighted in Your love my longing

82. Infatuation, fervor, and yearning
I remain in every valley

83. Wandering in heart, my deepest feelings wandering
Grant me peace or bid me farewell

84. With safety before the impending separation
My sin has sentenced me to estrangement

85. I wish I knew when reunion will happen
Be gentle with me for my companionship has left me

86. You are in all people the best company
Peace be upon You as long as the earth breathes

87. And the breeze blows for diffusion
The passion of a loving, enamored admirer

88. has boiled
And a company of devotion

89. has come together
And tears from lovers pour forth

90. After a long night, dawn breaks
Seizing its fringes forcefully
