1. I have mixed the clamor of your nature with kindness,
Yet you remain bitter food for all people,
١. ولقد مزجتُ زُعاقَ طَبعك بالإِخا
ءِ فلم تَزَل صابَ الخليقة مَطعَما
2. Like the sea into which all waters flow
And which remains bitter and brackish forever.
٢. كالبحرِ تَمزُجُهُ المياهُ جميعها
وتَراهُ طول الدهر مُرّاً عَلقَما
