1. Justice builds and security fortifies
While injustice destroys and disgrace dissipates

2. Truth is the greatest of what is intended and sought
And right is the inescapable goal and purpose

3. Judiciousness in judgments is a separating wisdom
With it some people are miserable and others joyous

4. And ruling is a sword in the hand of its owner
It may be unsheathed for a while, and sheathed for a while

5. Were it not for sharp swords, this time
Would not restrain the hands of aggressors

6. Discernment in minds is an advantage
Attained only by the most rightly guided guide

7. Good governance in leadership is wisdom
Attained only by a supported youth

8. So too perceptiveness in emirate is shrewdness
With which the prudent and intelligent rises and is honored

9. We are in a despicable and unjust time
In which truthfulness sat still and falsehood stood up

10. How many riffraff mounted their ribs
And chiefs of a people who did not miss dignity

11. You made life's prime joy abhorrent to me
I denied it and met what is more abhorrent

12. Every day a setback that deafens me
And at all times recurring afflictions

13. And at every place a tribulation from an envier
And at every moment an oppressor threatens

14. We parted from companions and kin and did not
Get close to the vile and envious enemies

15. We left both worlds to live safely
In the world of divinity which is the aim

16. We entrusted the home despite zeal for it
For the zeal of the Divine as He protected it

17. But the evildoers kindled their evil
With burning embers that do not extinguish

18. I have not forgotten what spanned long
When the riders departed and my heart kept yearning

19. Refrain from causing harm so that I
Am not of those who benefit from a single glance

20. So for those whom you blamed in whispers my heart responded, and my limbs testify
They are the progeny of the house of glorious splendor that

21. Is built with glories and prides
Of all the pure springs, accomplished

22. In nature before birth by God's grace
While still infants virtues deter them

23. Not elders in morals, protection and dignity
The births of their women are proper, if

24. It were permissible as it was for their births
They gained loftiness, whether a lad or graybeard

25. For the long days, and time makes one a lad or graybeard
They were not tempted by passion, and their love

26. Did not empower caprice or tenderness
The deer, but they were not timid

27. The nobles, but they did not shoot
The lions, but they did not grow weary

28. The clubs, but they did not stiffen
The arrows, but they did not shatter

29. The torrents, but they did not flow
Death, but they did not dislike it

30. Life, but they did not extinguish
The gray hair, but they did not fade

31. The rain, but they did not spoil
The mountain, but they were not trodden

32. The sea, but they did not surge
The firmaments, but they were not split

33. The gaze, but they did not lower their eyes
The resources of horsemen, if called they responded

34. The places of kindness, if visited they welcomed
The most generous, glorious, superior

35. Most perfect, noblest, honored
They never legitimized what they did not make lawful

36. No, and they did not tie what they did not tie
The emirate came to them obedient

37. As if reined to obey them
Some attained it forcefully struggling

38. While they did not struggle for what they gained
Congratulations O house of pride and glory

39. As your fragmented group has united
The hearts of your sons united in you against

40. The enemies and foes who scattered
Since they came to the places of their success

41. A corruptor and destroyer frequented mortality
So delight in it out of joy and make it

42. A day that is most honorable and felicitous
And may you have mercy on an envier heated in their heat

43. Who settled while with them the settlers
O pride of Qais O you of highest standing whom

44. Below their elevation are delusions and superstitions
You are the pillar of people as if you are

45. The verb of speech and they are a predicate noun
O you leaders whom their command

46. Is always obeyed from the hearts and praised
Would we seek refuge in your shade in fear

47. And would your vastness be resort if expelled
Would your long sword frighten us

48. With blood that threatens to spill tomorrow
Would each of you be companion of morn

49. While the dark night of worries embraces us
We complain of the days, nay of their people

50. For without you none of them is intended
We present you with prime poetry passionately

51. Without which are discordance, beauty, and meanness
So its dowry is sincerity of purpose and its price

52. Is your satisfaction, lest I say appeasement
Blood, O Hussein O father of nobilities in

53. A lofty honor, and O star of good fortune, and Ahmad
And so you are, O Assaf, and O horseman of

54. Al Hayja, and O magnificent revered Ahmad
The warbler did not echo in the garden the melodies of morn,

55. And trilling began while the lovebird chirped
