1. By your life, patience leads to destiny
And victory is enough of His creation for you

2. Your enemies harbor malice in their hearts
But know not the gentleness in them is meekness

3. You showed mercy to enemies, so they lived freely
In meadows, though fire smolders in their thickets

4. You distanced yourself from the evils of the wicked
And the pain of people in the land, as did the free

5. Truly this land all belongs to Allah
No unbeliever has a share nor place in it

6. What business have I with dens of lions
Do they possess aught but claws and conquest?

7. With faith I battle some, and but for my creed
Neither I nor they would refrain from wine

8. By Allah, he who left our homes and abodes
For him Allah will prepare a home and heaven a tent

9. They said: choose exile or death by spear
I said: no, by Allah, exile is better for me

10. No rest for he in whose heart betrayal lingers
No dwelling from the evils of its inhabitants is void

11. No good is in a house, though you grow fond of it
Where misguidance, harm, deceit and cunning breed

12. I wished for the lofty northern mountains
For the living is the howl, and the desert the lion's roar

13. Move to another city if one confines you
Only boys accept disgrace, not men of repute

14. Let them say you left debased and defeated
Do not let fools and ignoramuses judge your matter

15. I have seen harm fairer to behold
And lighter than the sight of a small but proud lad

16. How many a gift was a test to people
Though gratitude was warranted if given thanks

17. My harshest critic's pleasure I cannot effect
He only wishes the grave would hide me from sight

18. Of the noblest morals in men are smiles
Forgiving at revenge when able to exact it

19. My excuse for sins is God-consciousness
I have no sin except honesty and righteousness

20. Excuses at times necessitate a debt
If no sin deserves them, no excuse pertinent

They found guidance in seeking me

22. Repaid good when I gained merit through them
With God's religion I destroyed their citadels of blasphemy

23. For faith can topple what disbelief has built
I built on solid rock a fitting foundation

24. For God's house cemented by the rock
The ignoble of misguidance call you, but you heed them not

25. Would a rock hear the ignite if it yelled?
You feared not the gusts of winds or floods

26. When rivers flowed and rain poured
By my soul! A man ransom I pay for you

27. By the bond of soul, may my life lengthen yours
With resolve you attained the sublime

28. While the arrogant only aspired to its low hanging fruits
You attained the lofty horizons' heights with humility

29. To where none but the proud aspire
O sea of abundant grace, when attributed to it

30. That sea said: such is the sea, this is the sea
O sea abundant in grace, no shores contain you

31. Nor ebbs follow your tides
Your words are pearls, your opinions riches

32. Your breath perfume, your phrases magic
Your story a treasure, your wisdom guidance

33. Your company pride, your vision glad tidings
If narrators were silent describing your aura

34. Their ten fingers would gesture towards you
Wise, understanding, learned, practicing

35. Noble, upright, decisive, judicious and righteous
Godfearing, pure, resplendent, adorned

36. His qualities diminished all stars' shine
And his traits attest to my claims of him

37. That reasoning and command are due to him
That wisdom, sense, glory, and pride are attributed to him

38. And excellence and merit ascribed to him
My secret, when I attempted to describe him

39. Capacity and enumeration fell short of capturing him
If I wished an inclusive ode to his attributes

40. Neither prose nor verse were up to the task
Before you, O noble bloodlines, my offering

41. Your pleasure with it worth more than any gift or dowry
My heart's companion, if you depart

42. My eyes will remain your dwelling and my breast your abode
Your companionship is hard on my heart

43. For it is delicate - its day an hour, its hour a month
With every day it grows more inflamed for you

44. As if it were the era's mound and its pyramid
You are the soul's partner, and living without you

45. Is impossible for a soul sans its other half
I will be patient, O soul and intimacy of heart

46. Perhaps time will bring us together again
In but a little while the darkness of night lifts

47. And that dawn smiles with its brilliance
In but a little while the planter of evil

48. Reaps a harvest of evil that befalls him
In but a little while the bargain of fraud ends

49. And markets are destroyed whose wares are lies
In but a little while God appears openly

50. On the clouds an angel surrounded by legions
Those who pierce Him scatter when they see

51. A God whose beauty wounds reveal
Wounds inflicted by unbelievers' excess

52. Not spears trained, but sins' arrows
The black of face turns yellow with fear of sin

53. When its red symbols surface from within
And the earth and all elements burn

54. As that river flows to His throne
Israfil cries out with the horn announcing

55. Rise up for the resurrection and requital has drawn near
Moment of inescapable reckoning, we have

56. No intercessor with God but the chaste virgin
She is the door and ascension to her child

57. Through her sins and burdens are erased
O morning star exalted in rank

58. Beyond it the spheres, sun and moon
O our secure treasure in the horror of that standing place

59. Through it we have no excuse for grave sins
I came to you o refuge of humanity

60. My shoulders weighted with sins and burdens
