1. Politics is not suited for the frail of body
Yet it is one of life's greatest tribulations

2. Should the wise and virtuous be tested by it
It reveals the weakness hidden in one's soul

3. Staying up through the night tending to affairs
Unaware of the sweetness of restful sleep

4. Repelling the wings of gossip from his duty
The treachery that lurks and ambushes in the dark

5. Preparing for events using clever invention
Not mere reason and wisdom alone

6. At times humbling himself with submission and calm
A refuge for all the afflicted of this universe

7. When God sees him humbled by his trials
He grants him wisdom for the rest of his days

8. So he benefits from his devotion to good
Gaining openly what was once hidden away

9. This soul is sated when thirsty
From the wellspring of justice, goodness and grace

10. It overflows to those who obey its rule
With whatever good and benefit it finds

11. Thus justice, then goodness emerge and reign
Without tyranny, ruled by enduring traditions

12. Yet should the ignorant waste a lifetime being misled
He would be fortunate to escape with his life

13. In his nature, despite his feeble abilities
He is matched against forces far too immense

14. Ignorance and delusions toy with him
Like the winds and waves batter ships at sea
