1. The age awoke after it had slept
And sobered from its drunken stupor and became aware

2. The age reconsidered its opinion and saw
That all had strayed from righteousness and guidance

3. That each had stumbled in their own way
And no true brother had said to his brother: Desist!

4. This age seems diseased
And most people in it are ailing

5. The cure we seek to treat us
And benefit our medicines has become scarce

6. And everyone whose heart aches
Seeks something to soothe the pain

7. Every fool has seized politics
You see him lounging all the time

8. And time raises up every low person
Who tomorrow looms high in power

9. It has led the ignorant astray in their confusion
With hypocrisy, pride, and disregard for piety

10. The tents of unbelief have spread wide
Abiding with them summer and winter

11. And none was there to dispel its darkness
Or forbid what it undertook and opposed

12. Until the morning star rose on the horizon
With the light of God's caliphate it rose

13. So people walked in its rays
And you will not see the path interrupted

14. The wings of darkness collapsed and the lights
Of a shining sun rose radiant

15. With the eminent master, the Imam guidance of
The rightly guided, who suppressed the enemies

16. Cyril the Brilliant, in whom virtues gathered
And perfections combined

17. He repelled the vile enemy humiliated
Confused, whose heart split

18. Woe to an enemy who nursed envy against him
Had he not been envious he would not have raged

19. His enemies have become like withered thorns
Their hatred severed into pieces

20. O you who vainly think to contend with him
Leave off your ambitions and restrain your hopes

21. This matchless, unique one in excellence
Wept over his demise, eulogizing and mourning

22. The roar of the enemy lion, excellence and virtue
Quieted its valley with piety, grazing it

23. He was nurtured on perfection, his stature grew
Until perfection in him increased and rose high

24. He was fed the milk of chastity from childhood
And suckled the milk of religion

25. So the first of his life and its last
Both walked the path of glory

26. He strove to attain every praiseworthy trait
O excellent striving, to strive toward it!

27. The shepherd of shepherds, with whom the heart
Of the enemy was shepherded and grazed

28. All take pride in his leadership
He guided hopes and delighted the loyalists

29. O gentle, meek dove entrusted with righteousness
O noblest of those entrusted!

30. O father, none but you is a father
Watch over us and listen to us

31. We hope from you blessings—gather us together
Look upon those who call you when they call

32. Congratulations on your right being secured
Among all God's flock together

33. You have clothed us in the garment of praise in the morning
While the foe has doffed the raiment of blame

34. So the birds in the treetops cried out in joy
