1. Many a flock, had it lived in Moses’ days
Would have found God’s best blessings in their ways

2. O shepherds of God! The best of all the sheep
Could see the years pass free of sin and sleep

3. A foolish goat stood up ‘gainst hundreds of rams
Yet with one thrust of horns routed countless lambs

4. In their naivete no tear did the lambs create
Did the pure ewer feel the jar’s chaotic weight?

5. No right has she, so no duty binds her way
On Judgement Day to give the scales their sway

6. And when God takes back what He gave in grace
To a servant, it protects from harm and disgrace

7. A man's honor comes from righteous deeds and care
Not from lineage or bonds that worldly fare

8. By instinct they're led, nature's unbridled course
To what they desire, without bit, rein or force

9. Only nature itself can overwhelm what we're born with
And virtues ingrained deep in muscle and bone

10. So moving past nature is no easy role
Like returning to naught from existence's shoal
