Where is its taste, daughter of grapevines?

7. Who recites it sober, it intoxicates

8. It destroys ugliness in existence and builds
A world of beauty for mankind

9. And its peers are with Al-Mutanabbi
Al-Ma'arri, Al-Buhturi and Ibn Hani

10. And Adonis, Al-Bayati and Darwish
And Abdel Sabour and Al-Qabbani

11. Those people who made our poetry
Sweet in hearts and conscience

12. And protected it from evil to vanish
In a forum and a festival

13. I will keep saying without fatigue
My faith firmly anchored:

14. Our poetry remains well and in us
Are poets of Al-Mutanabbi's clay

15. Poetry is but a mercy for the wilderness
Sent by the care of the Merciful

16. Divided among the sincere, so blessed
Is the sincere not deprived of bounty
