1. The self burns in the passion of words
Lord of a love for which self was sacrificed

2. Whenever you recited a poem in life
Bearing glad tidings of coming salvation

3. And you came to the world calling its people:
"Embrace wakefulness for it is the secret of life"

4. You wish that the universe would rise from its
Lethargy so it may stand still

5. Thus you see love walking freely in it
Wiping the tears of sorrow and sighs

6. And you see security settled
And the mouth of the world lit up with smiles

7. From you poetry flows in ravishing eloquence
The cheeks rosy, the breaths aromatic

8. Don't tire striving for the desired tomorrow, strive
For the realization of the most beautiful goals

9. O gentle poet greetings
How do you become among us a brother of tragedy?

10. At night you spend wakeful as a watchman
And suffer worries at dawn

11. Lost, how many among the people are lost!
They ignored your sublime worth but

12. You are the one who ascends the towering heights
How many sublime men failed among their people

13. While most deserving of honors among them
Alas if time were just to the free

14. You would be most worthy of the highest ranks
O brother of tender inspiration you are safe

15. You are the light in the darkness of calamities
